The wait is often long, but it is well worth it. The servers are great. The food is delicious and portions are huge!
The manager took 50% off my meal. Small compensation for the potential to contract a food-borne bacterial infection. A more satisfying response from the manager would have been an assurance that they would check all service/dish ware and dispose of pieces that have cracks or chips.
If you’re not from southern New Mexico, heed the warnings on the menu. When they say spicy and hot, they mean spicy and hot. Their green chile is hot. So is their homemade salsa, which stands as some of the most flavorful hot salsa I’ve been served in a restaurant ever. I mean it. I’m a salsa snob. And heed my warning: if you’re one of those people who find even pepper to be too spicy [side eyes my lovely wife] don’t order the gravy either!
First time here and it was great! Food is made fresh came out wonderful. It is not cheap or pricey. The portions are large so great for the price! When you walk in it seems like a little cabin, nothing too special. However, the food was fresh, hot, and full of flavor! The biscuits were fluffy, flakey, and fresh. The Chicken Fried Steak was very hardy and filling absolutely amazing. The gravey has sausage chunks in it and is very flavorful, not bland at all! Service was fast, friendly, and prompt. I had a great first experience here. I recommend!
Restaurant and bathrooms are clean. Wait staff were all bright-eyed, smart, and seem to genuinely like their jobs, which speaks volumes about management without our ever seeing anyone who looked like a boss during our visits.
I had not been to this restaurant in several years. Disappointed that my food was served on a plate that had CRACKS in it. And the brown color in the cracks certainly contrasted with the white plate. Disgusting. It is hard to believe that a restaurant would serve food on a cracked plate. I thought that was actually against rules, regulations or laws of some kind.
We visited in October, that time between summer and winter action when tourists are scant, so we had no wait, but they have a rather large indoor seating area for you to relax as best you can while smelling what’s cooking in the kitchen.
Breakfasts here are first rate. So good we ate there twice. And that one time we showed up at lunch time, we just had breakfast again because it was that good. Classic rib-sticking meals. You get a ton of food here for your dollar.
Our first visit and what a major disappointment. One star is too generous. We were not even acknowledged while we waited patiently at the entrance. Our coffee was barely OK and the accompanying pitcher was filthy with sticky fingerprints. My French toast was so soggy and heavy that it was inedible. The scrambled eggs were rubbery and the "crispy" bacon limp. The only decent part of our meal were the biscuits. I mentioned the soggy French toast and our server took 50% off of that item. Big whoop. Will not eat here again.
Get your grub on here. Even if you have a wait, I think you’ll still be glad you did!
